I met Mel very early in my Junior year, at the height of my social carryings-on. I spotted her early on as a freshman, when she was looking lost, and dragged her into our little social group; and unlike many of those that I did this to, she stuck around, started dating my roommate Ray, and adopted me as her big brother. From that point on, we pretty much considered our fates interlocked, and have acted like it; most prominently, Mel is one of the few people that can call me on my idiosynchracies and get me to do what I know is the *right* thing to do, even if it doesn't match my stubbornness of the moment. That's a useful skill. I'm still sad that she moved away to Seattle, because neither of us is as good at staying in touch as we really need to be, but I am proud to have my sister standing up with me in May.
I do wish she'd bring Riley, though.
